Selected second overall in the 1992 NBA Draft behind Shaquille O'Neal, Mourning was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team with the highest scoring average of any Rookie in the Charlotte Hornets history. He also broke the blocked-shots record for the Hornets in his Rookie Career and with .4 seconds left in the first round of the playoff series, gave the Hornets at 104-103 win and a 3-1 victory over the Boston Celtics.
